How Horberg Centerless Grinding Works

Our centerless grinding process positions tube or rod components on a work rest between a regulating wheel and grinding wheel spinning in opposite directions. We precisely determine wheel spacing based on your specifications to grind exacting outside diameters, achieving precision roundness, surface finish, and dimensional tolerance. This proven method delivers tolerances to ±0.00005″ for complex cylindrical, screw machined, formed, stepped, and conical shapes across multiple diameters in economical high-volume production runs.

Precision Thru Feed Grinding  

We specialize in Thru Feed Grinding for round, simple-shape parts requiring consistent roundness across the entire length. Straight cylindrical workpieces pass between grinding wheels that process all surface points, producing rounder, straighter parts meeting exact tolerance specifications. Perfect for pins, dowel pins, and components requiring only outermost diameter grinding.
